Question by : Need info on jobs in the gaming industry .?I’m 14 I love computers, I’m the only one in my school that’s a “PC gamer”. I’m also a smart ass. I want to hear a name, IE Genghis Khan in a film or TV and I want to read about it on wikipedia and educate my self which i think is a good talent, to have a thirst for knowledge. I recently have been upgrading my computer’s CPU and ram. Computers are my passion, I want a career in the gaming industry of computers.This is not some insufferable teenager that has a fantasy of testing games for a living. I understand games are just scripts and compiled into engine and are made by codes, and modeling, texturing, etc. I need advice on how to get started. I’ve got some experience in HTML and making websites, etc. And like I said, getting my hands dirty in experience and upgrading components on the motherboard.How can I get started? What courses will I need to take in college and uni? I took Electronics, Media Studies and History for my GCSE’s which i start next year.Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot, Jake. Hey Jake, I followed a similar path when I was younger, but lost interest by the time I got to the age of 20th After school I did a GNVQ in Advanced I.T. and then a BSc degree in Scientific Computing. I then went onto do a MSc (masters) in Diagnostic Radiography because of my interest in the human body. My career Consists of a mix of I.T. and diagnostic imaging in a hospital which i think is really cool (and the pay is good as well )My advice would be to get a computer-related qualification and go onto college and study something like University BSc Computer Games Technology like what the University of Portsmouth has to offer (http://www.port.ac.uk/courses/coursetypes/ undergraduate / BScHonsComputerGamesTechnology /) and you’ll get taught everything you need to know to succeed in the industry.Good luck!
